Our School Governors
School Governors are vital in helping to ensure high standards of achievement for all the children and young people in the school. The work and commitment of the Governing body aims to make a positive impact on the lives of every pupil attending the school.
Governors have three key roles:
- Setting the school’s vision, ethos and strategic direction;
- Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils.
- Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure money is well spent.
The governing body has overall responsibility for the effective governance of the school and is accountable to the parents, the Local Authority and the Secretary of State. The Headteacher is responsible for the day to day management of the school and the Governing body holds the Headteacher to account for the performance of the school. We are fully involved in all aspects of school life.
We are a committed and supportive group, made up of appointed, elected and co-opted members, including parent and staff governors. We are from a variety of different backgrounds and approach our voluntary roles with a strong interest in the further development and improvement of St Nicholas School.
A file containing agendas and minutes of our meetings is held by the clerk to the governing body and may be viewed in term time by arrangement.
